Overview
Bangkok, the means of Thailand, is a fabulous mix of abundant Siam heritage and currency. The urban center feels enormous, and both its crowdedness and its tangled set-up of bus, train, and tube routes add to that phenomenon. Bangkok's commercial district, Sukhumvit, and the city's center, Siam Square, are chock-a-block next to malls, section stores, restaurants, and high-rise buildings. South of Sukhumvit is Silom, a financial territory by day and, by night, a touristed locate for consumption and symptom. North of Silom is Rattanakosin. Bordering the Chao Phraya River, Rattanakosin is the surroundings of the Grand Palace, Wat Po, Khao San Road, and the National Museum. West of the river is Thonburi, a strange goal for its intricate systems of canals and displays of past buildings. North of Thonburi is Phahonyothin, the site of the Chatuchak Weekend Market.
